28 year old Joshua Martin was last seen in Lincoln, Nebraska on April 5, 2024. He disappeared after leaving a mental health facility located at 14th and South Streets.
Disappearance
At 1:30 pm on April 5, 2024, Joshua Martin walked out of Integrated Behavior Health Services, a secure mental health facility located at 1430 South Street in Lincoln, Nebraska. He hasn’t been heard from since.
He was last seen near the railroad tracks in Denton, Nebraska.
Joshua suffers from schizophrenia and severe OCD, and his family says he functions at the level of a 5 year old. He may walk with a limp in his posture and appear confused. He frequently walks along railroad tracks.
Investigation
Lincoln police checked surrounding businesses for security video and used a drone, but had no luck in finding him. Additional searches were conducted with the help of the Nebraska State Patrol helicopter.
Joshua’s family is unsure where he is, but believes he might be somewhere between Lincoln and Omaha.
Following Martin’s disappearance, the state cited Integrated Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) for violations including staffing issues, not following Joshua’s individualized service plan, and policies and procedures regarding missing clients that were not in compliance with state regulations.
In May of 2024, DHHS said IBHS submitted a plan to correct the policy violations and that many of the changes had already been implemented.
