34 year old Donald Messier was last seen at a party in Waitsfield, Vermont on October 15, 2006. He disappeared after leaving the party in his red 1997 Ford F-150 truck.
Background
At the time of his disappearance, Donald worked at Green Mountain Coffee Roasters and lived with his sister in Waterbury.
According to loved ones, he was depressed due to a recent divorce, and had been hospitalized for his depression in August 2006.
Disappearance
On October 14, 2006, Donald Messier went to a friend’s house to watch a NASCAR race before heading out to a party in Waitsfield.
Around 2:00 am on October 15, 2006, Donald was last seen leaving the party in Waitsfield, Vermont. He left in his red 1997 Ford F-150 dual cab pickup truck with Vermont plate BGG890, and hasn’t been seen since.
Police reports from the time indicate he wasn’t intoxicated.
Donald failed to show up to work the following Monday, and was reported missing by his family on October 18, 2006.
His family reported that he was depressed and possibly suicidal. They fear he may have harmed himself, as it’s uncharacteristic of him to leave without warning.
Investigation
There has been no activity on Donald’s bank accounts, credit cards, or cell phone since he went missing.
On October 6, 2022, Donald’s truck was recovered from the Winooski River along River Road in Dixbury, Vermont. The discovery was made by Adventures With Purpose, a dive team specializing in solving missing person cases.
The truck was mostly intact, although the cab hood, windows, and roof were missing. Some personal belongings were found during the search, but no human remains.
Appearance
White male with brown hair and brown eyes. Donald stands 5’10-6’0 tall and weighs 265-285 pounds. He usually has a goatee and mustache.
